River Safari Singapore

I have been to the River Safari for 3 times. I must say that it is a interesting place to visit on a nice cool day. Don't worry, the place is mostly sheltered which you can enjoy see the aquatic and land creatures. The thing that you must not miss is the Giant Panda Forest.

This time I was able to see the two giant pandas closeup. Most of the time, they were hiding somewhere or were playing further away from the safety railings. This time, I could see them at very close range and observed their behaviours. It was quite fun and they were not afraid of human beings watching them. I guessed they had already settled down and probably ready to mate when they are five years old.

Kai Kai and Jia Jia were in separate habitats and will only allow to see each other during mating.

There are other things to see at the River Safari. Last weekend, there were some activities for the children. There were 3 booths, Sand-sational Art, Piece-o-Puzzle, Pebble Picasso.

The booths were just outside the Giant Panda shop. Luckily they were sheltered as last Sunday had a heavy downpour. The activities were for the kids and they were available for a minimum donation of S$1 to the Wildlife Reserves Conservation Fund (WRSCF). It was not crowded and the organisers had done a good job to bring fun activities to the children.

Just in front of the booths, the rangers came out with a parrot and a pygmy hedgehog. The pygmy hedgehog was very little and cute. We were allowed to touch it, prickly feeling though.

Next to the booths, you could also go Mama Panda Kitchen to eat Panda Red Bean Bao. The prices were a bit high but that was expected at tourist location. Taste was acceptable.

Two baos for us
We bought two Panda Baos to try. Not bad.

You could cross the bridge and took a boat ride. I think it was about 30 minutes ride out in the reservoir. You could see the giraffes and elephants from the boat. We didn't take the boat this time because it was raining.

However, we went to see the spider monkey. I could see one of them very close up and took a picture of it when it was stationary.
